Shell remains the leading global supplier of finished lubricants for 13 consecutive years, according to Kline & Company’s 17th Edition Global Lubricants Industry: Market Analysis and Assessment: 2019 report. Using 2018 as the base year, the report covers all leading lubricant consuming country markets, market segments, product types, and formulations.
Shell uses solar energy to help power lubricant plants in Europe and Asia

Shell is installing solar photovoltaic panels on the roofs of seven lubricant plants in China, India, Italy, Singapore and Switzerland. Combined, the panels are expected to generate over 7,500 MWh of electricity annually, and can result in the avoidance of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of approximately 4,500 tonnes on a CO2-equivalent basis per year, equivalent to taking about 2,600 cars off the road for one year.
Shell launches e-fluids to optimise electric vehicle performance

Shell has launched a new range of fluids specifically designed to work in battery electric vehicles (EVs). These E-Transmission Fluids, E-Thermal Fluids and E-Greases will make battery EVs perform better and be more efficient. This is part of Shell’s ongoing drive to support electric mobility and offer more and cleaner energy solutions for our customers.

Shell opens 430 Million-litre Lubricants Plant in Singapore

Singapore, November 1, 2017 – Shell today opened an integrated lubricants and grease production facility in Tuas, Singapore. At 10 hectares, the site size is equivalent to almost 25 football pitches. It is Shell’s 3nd largest lubricants plant in the world and 2nd largest in Asia-Pacific, capable of producing up to 430 million litres (equivalent to 390 kilotonnes) of lubricants and greases every year - enough to change the engine oil of over 12,000 cars, every hour, every day.

Zibo, Shandong - Shell today entered a strategic cooperation with FAW Jie Fang Truck Co. Ltd, China’s largest manufacturer of heavy duty trucks. The new agreement deepens Shell’s relationship with FAW, having been its premium lubricants supplier for first-fill and service-fill oils for many years. Shell and FAW also recently successfully trialled 100,000km long oil drain intervals for the entire powertrain system, including engine, transmission and axle via rigorous bench tests of over10,000 hours and 1.5 million km of road trials, a first in China.
