Avoid, reduce and offset emissions
Commercial Road Transport plays a vital role in moving almost everything that modern society depends on. And accounts for approximately 9% of global carbon dioxide emissions.
This is why Shell will provide an electric charging infrastructure for trucks as part of our ambition to operate more than 2.5 million electric vehicle chargers - and 150 hydrogen refuelling sites for heavy-duty trucks - by 2030.
In the future, zero-emissions trucks will be powered by hydrogen and electric battery technology. As Shell customers transition to zero-emissions trucks, we plan to invest in the infrastructure to support them at home-base depots and on the road, just as we already support millions of motorists around the world.
In fact, our ambition is to operate more than 2.5 million electric vehicle chargers globally by 2030 - including chargers for heavy-duty trucks. Plus, we aim to have 150 hydrogen refuelling sites for heavy-duty trucks across Europe by 2030.
We have considerable experience supporting businesses with their electric vehicle charging, and are in a strong position to offer the services and infrastructure you may need in the future, as the technology and market evolves.
Shell is committed to providing an EV charging infrastructure for trucks as part of our targets to operate over 500,000 charge points globally by 2025 – and 2.5 million by 2030. It will unlock a range of benefits, including:
- Improved competitiveness – embrace technology that gives you greater insight and control
- Regulations compliance – improve emissions management and meet ever-evolving legislations.
Hydrogen could become a key player on the road to net zero – because it offers a near-diesel level range, power and refuelling speeds. Which is why we’re helping build a viable hydrogen trucking system in Europe, working with heavy-duty truck manufacturers to simultaneously deliver H2 refuelling stations and hydrogen trucks. The goal? Cover 1200 kilometres by 2025, and build 150 hydrogen refuelling stations for trucks by 2030.

Currently making up 3% of the global demand for road transport fuel, biofuels are a renewable energy source, and a valuable part of the energy mix for fleets. Made from organic matter or waste, they can be blended into petrol and diesel, and are a cost-effective way to make your vehicles emit fewer emissions.
Shell FuelSave Diesel
Shell FuelSave Diesel
Shell FuelSave Diesel and Shell Diesel Extra with DYNAFLEX Technology1 deliver clean-up action designed to help remove carbon deposits from the injectors and prevent further build-up, which can enable fuel economy up to 3%2 and help lower operating costs.2 By helping to clean up the injectors from carbon deposits and, in turn, promote more efficient combustion, Shell FuelSave Diesel and Shell Diesel Extra can help lower CO2 emissions and black smoke.3
AdBlue® reduces the nitrogen oxide in diesel exhaust emissions by up to 90% - by converting them into much less harmful nitrogen and water vapour.6
Shell Rimula R6 LME is fully synthetic engine oil for heavy-duty diesel vehicles, which can help save up to 2% on fuel consumption4. Shell Rimula R6 products, across markets in Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific are now carbon neutral5, meaning that Shell’s global portfolio of nature-based carbon credits will compensate CO2e emissions from the lifecycle of these products, including the raw materials, packaging, production, distribution, customer use and product end of life.
Boost your progress by mitigating emissions through carbon compensation - using independently-verified nature-based solutions. And a Shell Card to make the process simple and cost-effective.

A joint report offering insights from 150 road freight leaders and 22 solutions for transitioning to renewable energy.
1 DYNAFLEX Technology or DYNAFLEX formulation are our names for our latest generation of advanced formulations for gasoline and diesel fuels.
2 Compared to regular diesel without fuel economy formula. Actual savings may vary according to vehicle, driving conditions and driving style. Internal Shell tests and with our customers have shown a range of fuel savings depending on age of vehicle and type of operations.
3 In heavy-duty engines up to and including Euro III.
4 Based on a field trial carried out over a 100,000 km oil-drain interval and compared with a typical 10W-40 oil.
5 “Carbon neutral” indicates that Shell has engaged in a transaction where an amount of CO₂ equivalent to the CO₂e amount associated with the raw material extraction, transport, production, distribution, usage, and end-of-life of the Shell Rimula lubricant has been avoided through the protection of natural ecosystems or removed as emissions from the atmosphere through a nature-based process. CO₂e (CO₂ equivalent) refers to CO₂, CH₄, N₂O.
