Prior to joining Smiths Group and serving as Chief Financial Officer from 2022 to 2025, Clare spent over 25 years at Goldman Sachs, where she advised multinational corporations on M&A, IPOs, and strategic transformations. She joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 1996 and was named as a Partner in 2006.

In 2011, Clare moved to London as Head of EMEA Industrials Investment Banking before being appointed and serving as Co-Head of Global Industrials Investment Banking from 2013 to 2022. Clare also Chaired Goldman Sachs’ Investment Banking Diversity Committee and Co-Chaired the Firmwide Commitments Committee.

Clare has extensive experience working with capital intensive global industrial companies, accelerating growth and increasing value. She brings deep expertise in corporate finance, risk management, and transformation, with experience spanning investment banking and executive leadership. She has advised and led complex global organisations through strategic change and has a strong international perspective, having worked across Europe, the Americas, and Asia Pacific.
