[Laura]
My name is Laura and I’m a Market Account Manager. I can’t tell you how much I love the great outdoors, the natural beauty that the Earth gives us.
Pictures of Laura in front of a snow-capped mountain, on a rocky hillside with a green valley below, in a field of long, green grass; Transition to footage of Laura typing on a laptop; Close-up of Laura speaking to the camera.
[Laura]
That’s why I’m so passionate about climate change. When I started at Shell I kind of set a limit for myself and I said, I don’t want to work in Big Oil forever. Originally, yes, I wanted to work for a purely renewable company. After realising how much power Shell has, that they sell 3% of global energy, I thought they could actually make a real change. I’m going to work toward using those skills I’ve gained in sales, marketing, communications, helping promote renewable products. Solar, wind, whatever it may be – this is our future.
Footage of urban skyscrapers at night with the windows lighting up one after another; Fast-motion footage of a big city intersection at night, with cars racing through green lights; Footage of the camera panning over the top of urban skyscrapers at night with the traffic below; Close-up of Laura speaking to the camera; Transition to image of Laura with a group of men at a Shell Eco-Marathon event; Transition to Laura in front of a Shell Rotella Oil display, holding a CD of Country music singer Tony Justice.
Fast-motion footage of a solar farm being built, with men in orange safety jackets and orange hardhats and the water bordering the farm on the right side; fast-motion overhead footage of the solar farm, showing rows of panels as they’re installed; wind turbines in the middle of the water with their blades slowly turning; a close-up of the blades turning. Footage at dusk of a large wind turbine installation in the water; Close-up of Laura speaking to the camera.
[Laura]
The friends who give me flak about working for a Big Oil major when I’m the person who’s preaching renewables, I want them to understand that just because this has always been viewed as an Oil & Gas company doesn’t mean that’s what it’s always going to be.
A man in safety gear and gloves working with a piece of equipment; at twilight, the silhouette of a man in a hardhat walks on an oil production platform, its lights sparkling; a man and a woman in red Shell uniforms talk in front of a computer screen; a man pointing to an area on an aerial shot of an oil refinery; someone charging an H2 fuel cell at a Shell Hydrogen Fuelling Station, panning to the words Powered by Hydrogen; a Shell awning with the sun shining brightly next to the Shell Pecten; Close-up of Laura speaking to the camera.
[Laura]
Things can change. People can change. Companies can change.

Interview with Thomas
[Title]
Draft.
Head and shoulders shot of Thomas being interviewed by an off-camera interviewer, followed by footage of Thomas crossing a road. We see various photographs from Thomas’s life. The first is him as a young boy, wearing glasses and a school uniform. The second shows him in a white lab coat with scientific equipment, then we see him presenting a lecture in front of a large whiteboard. There follows close-up footage of Thomas smiling and then of him climbing a hill, cheering whilst his photograph is taken, with a snow-covered mountain in the background.
[Thomas]
My name is Thomas and I’m an energy transition advisor. I was a smart kid. I studied physics, so I feel like I want to use that, especially concerning climate change.
Footage of a yellow cornfield cuts to a time-lapsed shot of a sunset, the dense clouds rolling in front of an orange sun. We see a forest of fir trees. The sunlight is throwing white rays across them, then we see the sun dazzling through a close-up shot of the woodland. There’s a distant shot of a large hill with a thick forest in the foreground, the sun now peeking over a distant horizon.
[Thomas]
I would like to look back and know that I have contributed to one of the most complex and important challenges that we have now as a society.
The head and shoulders shot of Thomas being interviewed by an off-camera interviewer returns. It cuts to footage of a large boat, an oil tanker, then a group of around 50 workers standing on a helipad with the ocean in the background. There’s follows a distant shot of the boat, making it appear small against the vastness of the surrounding water, then two more workers in hard-hats are discussing two large pipes going into the water.
[Thomas]
My father was very proud when I joined Shell, but he said, Shell’s core business is getting oil out of the ground, so you need to stick to the core business.
Head and shoulder footage of Thomas’s interview again. Then a close-up shot of Thomas’s hands as he types on a laptop. This cuts to a shot of a windfarm, the turbines turning slowly against the green landscape and a blue skyline.
[Thomas]
I said, Dad, I want to be in the energy transition business, because that’s the future.
Again, we see Thomas being interviewed, followed by footage of an eco-friendly energy farm. A sign reads, Powered by Hydrogen, then somebody is charging their car from a Shell RechargePlus point. A bar-chart is shown. Two men wearing special glasses are discussing a large map, and then we’re back to Thomas’s interview.
[Thomas]
So, I started in new business development, which is quite a commercial department, practising entrepreneurship, gathering funds [?] getting the right people on board and developing the technology. I would say there is a place for anybody who likes technology within Shell. Like, hey, come on, let’s make it go faster, let’s work towards the energy transition.

Screen alternates between close-ups of Toib and the screen splitting into three boxes, showing views of new energy sites and Shell employees working in laboratories and large scale renewable energy installations, including off-shore wind farms and solar panels in large cities.
[Toib]
People are incredibly driven, but also quite humble and open. So in my current role it’s all about making work meaningful for those that I work with. I’m passionate about the energy transition, but I’m more passionate about how do you identify, recruit, retain, develop the game changers who will make that impact on the world. You really need visionary people, thinkers, people who dream big and people who can also get things done. Being in HR, I’m the enabler to support the energy transition to make it happen.

Interview with Sharief
[Title]
Draft.
Head and shoulders shot of Sharief being interviewed by an off-camera interviewer. He’s wearing a smart, grey suit. There follows a distant shot of an oil-rig surrounded by a blue ocean, then two mid-distance photographs of Sharief on the rig. The first shows him smiling at the camera, wearing a dark red uniform with a Shell logo. The second is of Sharief and three colleagues, also on the oil-rig, all wearing white hard-hats and smiling. We’re then back to the interview footage of Sharief.
[Sharief]
I’m Sharief. I’m a deep oil wells engineer. What makes me tick is helping other people and making my mark on the world in a positive way. Leaving the world in a better condition than when I joined.
Footage of Sharief walking across a long suspension bridge, the sunlight hitting his face. He is crossing a wide river and we see other people also crossing the bridge. In the background is the London Eye, several large tower blocks and a red double-decker bus. Then we’re taken back to the head and shoulders shot of Sharief’s interview.
[Sharief]
My passion stems from coming to the realisation that energy and environment are two of the biggest things that we have to get right if we plan to move forward in a sustainable manner.
We see a slideshow of photographs. The first is of Sharief’s graduation, where he poses for his photograph with his family wearing a black gown and hat. The next is of Sharief being presented with a certificate, and then a third shows him wearing his red Shell uniform on the rig again. We see a distant shot of a large group of Shell workers. They’re all wearing the same red uniform and white hard-hats, standing on the oil rig and waving at the camera. Then mid-distance footage shows more workers shaking hands and chatting.
[Sharief]
In college, I was pretty sceptical actually about coming to work for Shell. I think one of the things that struck me first was how people-focused it was and how people really truly did care about energy transition.
Close-up footage of a large, white wind turbine in the ocean. We see the turbine from a bird’s eye view and then from the front, where more turbines can be seen in the background. A digitalised image of a landscape rapidly being covered with rows of solar panel follows. There are also several pylons in the field and then we see a close-up shot of the panels with the sun beaming down from above.
[Sharief]
People are still figuring it out. It’s not perfect, but it’s not going to happen overnight. It’s about doing it in a morally sound way or in a conscientious way.
Indoor footage of Sharief chatting with co-workers. They are sitting on comfortable chairs, each wearing a Shell branded lanyard and smart clothing. Then we’re back to Sharief’s interview again.
[Sharief]
I mean, it’s really inspiring to be working for a company that’s already making a difference. That’s my drive for working for Shell.

I’m Ryan and I’m a senior operations support engineer in the Gulf of Mexico.

Close-up footage of Ryan speaking into the camera, seen against the background of an office interior.
[Ryan]
I’m somebody who really likes community and I like putting down roots. I feel like at Shell, one of the things that strikes out to me the most is the community of people. Yeah, I could see myself working at Shell for the rest of my career.
Panning bird’s eye view of an oil platform in deep water, cutting to low-angle footage of the four-column hull of the platform, seen against deep blue sky. Two still shots of Ryan posing for the camera, wearing her Shell-branded safety suit, successively transition into and out of frame; in the first, she is on the platform deck with blue sea and sky in the background, and in the second, she is in an interior group shot with colleagues. We cut to an extreme close-up of Ryan’s face as she breaks into a broad smile. Next, we see slightly wider-angle footage of Ryan and other young Shell employees seated together in reception-style chairs in an open office environment; as they talk together, the shot cuts to a close-up of one of the young men in the group laughing. Close-up footage of Ryan speaking into the camera, as before.
[Ryan]
I don’t care about coming up with a new flavour of chip. I don’t care about coming up with a new scent of shampoo. Those aren’t things that drive me.

Extreme close-up of Ryan turning to look thoughtfully out of the window at frame-right. We cut to wide-angle footage of Ryan seated on a window ledge, holding a tablet on her lap and looking out through the window, where we see buildings, water and green vegetation. Close-up footage of Ryan speaking into the camera, as before. Bird’s eye view of the Hungerford and Golden Jubilee railway and pedestrian bridges over the Thames, with vessels passing beneath the bridges, as seen through the window.
[Ryan]
There are people who are without light, without heat, who don’t have access to information.
Close-up of the filament of a lightbulb going out, leaving only darkness. Wide footage of a small rural shop at night, surrounded by darkness; lights illuminating the interior and immediate exterior of the small shop are extinguished one by one, leaving only darkness. Extreme close-up of a lightbulb’s filament as electricity flows into it and it starts to glow. Wide-angle still shot of a smiling Ryan posing in front of a large blue “Opportunity for All Whitehouse.gov” banner. We see high angle footage of a protesting crowd, and superimposed over this footage, we see horizontally scrolling text relating to social justice, the text appearing grainy, as though displaying on a flickering screen.
[Ryan]
My hope would be that everybody has power that they can access to meet all of their needs, regardless of your geography, regardless of your gender, regardless of your race, that you would have the tools that you need to be able to do what you want in life.
Close-up footage of Ryan speaking into the camera, as before. Low-angle footage of sun streaming through the foliage of a tree, forming a halo. Close-up footage of a smiling Ryan walking along a pedestrian area next to the River Thames, looking around as she walks, the footage creatively overexposed with a sunlit haze; on the other side of the river in the distance, Big Ben is visible. Close-up footage of Ryan speaking into the camera, as before. High angle close-up of two little girls flicking their fingers across the screen of a mobile device. Slow-motion profile-view footage of a little boy jumping up and down; we see other people seated in the blurred background. Slow-motion footage of a young boy divebombing into water.
[Ryan]
The real driver for me at Shell, this is what I need to be doing – I need to be helping create the world I want to see.
