Shell has developed and acquired a broad range of energy solutions, as well as trading capabilities to meet customers’ gas, power and decarbonisation needs. Shell’s energy solutions range from producing natural gas, processing and shipping liquefied natural gas (LNG), generating and selling conventional and renewable power, energy efficiency technologies, and carbon credits.
In Europe, Shell Energy is involved across all areas of the energy system, from renewable power generation, trading of natural gas, power, certificates to the physical supply to businesses. We work with investors, developers, private equity, energy producers and retailers and we supply the energy products needed by industrial, tech, and commercial companies. Our integrated operations, together with our scale, is the reason brands in Europe are choosing Shell Energy.
Powering energy security with diverse solutions
Our natural gas portfolio is broad and varied, encompassing Shell’s European production with long-term offtake agreements with other producers. We also have a strategic position in gas storage and, as one of the largest LNG producers in the world, we are able to supplement pipeline supply with cargos of LNG.
We are the largest biomethane business in Europe following our acquisition of Nature Energy.
Our power portfolio includes renewable generation projects that leverage renewable sources such as solar, wind and hydro. It also includes long-term offtake agreements which allow us to offer corporate Power Purchase Agreements (cPPAs) and other competitive structures to European companies — either directly through our trading desk or delivered locally through one of our Shell Energy sales offices in Europe.
Shell Energy aims to meet the energy needs of today while supporting customers in meeting their decarbonisation commitments. To help compensate for emissions today, Shell has developed a diverse portfolio of carbon credits, drawn from projects across the world using proven methodologies to remove carbon from the atmosphere or reduce emissions. We build strong relationships with project owners and developers and have developed a robust due diligence process to help give customers confidence that the projects match up to their promises.
