Shell invests to increase capacity at world-scale petrochemical complex in Singapore

Shell announced today that it has taken a final investment decision to ‘debottleneck’ its Singapore ethylene cracker on Pulau Bukom (Bukom Island). This is expected to increase the capacity of olefins and aromatics by more than 20 per cent. Engineering work for the debottleneck will take place during the next maintenance turn-around of the cracker.
SABIC & Shell progress on plans for expansion at Sadaf joint venture

Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) and Shell announced today that they are progressing plans for the expansion of various projects at the Saudi Petrochemical Company (Sadaf). The joint venture partners are also looking to expand their partnership beyond Saudi Arabia.
Ben van Beurden to become Shell Downstream Director

Royal Dutch Shell plc (Shell) today announced the appointment of Ben van Beurden as Downstream Director, effective January 1, 2013. In his new role, van Beurden will become a member of Shell’s Executive Committee and will take over from Mark Williams who will be returning to the United States and leaving the company after 33 years’ distinguished service.
Shell signs agreement to evaluate petrochemical site in Pennsylvania

Shell Chemical LP (Shell) signed a land option agreement with Horsehead Corporation to evaluate a site in the US Appalachian region for a potential petrochemical complex. The complex includes an ethane cracker that would upgrade locally produced ethane from Marcellus Shale gas production. The site is located in Potter and Center Townships in Beaver County near Monaca, Pennsylvania.
