Through Shell Recharge, we offer public and fleet charging solutions designed around the way people move – on the road, on streets, at destinations and in depots. Our focus is on markets where EV adoption is growing fastest, and where our network, locations and partnerships can help meet customers’ charging needs.
Growing our public EV charging network
Shell currently has more than 80,000 public charge points globally, including at forecourts, on-street locations, mobility hubs and destinations such as supermarkets. Shell Recharge is present in around 40 markets worldwide, with investment focused on leading EV adoption markets.
Public charging is expected to play an increasingly important role as more people switch to EVs, particularly in cities where many drivers do not have access to private parking. Through Shell ubitricity, acquired by Shell in 2021, we provide more than 20,000 lamp-post charge points for drivers without off-street parking in a growing number of cities across the UK and Europe.
We are also working with retailers, hotels, car park owners and other partners in select regions to provide destination charging in convenient locations, helping drivers make better use of their time while their vehicles charge.
Helping businesses electrify their fleets
Shell offers EV charging solutions for businesses with light, medium and heavy-duty fleets. On the road, customers can access charging at Shell forecourts, retail destinations, highway locations and selected third-party charge points through the Shell Card.
For heavy-duty fleets, Shell provides tailored depot charging solutions that can be private, shared with selected partners or semi-public with scheduled availability. Through SBRS, a Shell Group company, we also provide specialist depot charging expertise for heavy-duty operations.
Improving the EV charging experience
EV charging is not only about the charge point. It is also about what customers can do while they wait.
At many Shell forecourts and mobility hubs, drivers can access food, drinks and convenience retail while they charge. This helps create places where customers can recharge themselves as well as their vehicles.
