Stage 1: Online assessments
After you’ve submitted your application, you’ll be asked to complete four online game-based assessments. These games measure various cognitive abilities and your working style preferences by presenting you with different challenges.
Altogether this will take approximately 20 minutes and will need to be completed within five days of receiving the assessment invite.
On the basis of your performance in the Stage 1 online assessments, if you are successfully shortlisted, then you will receive an invite to the Stage 1 on-demand video interview (ODVI). Altogether this will take about 20 minutes, and will need to be completed within 10 days of receiving the ODVI invite.
Stage 1: On-Demand Video interview
This short, self-recorded video interview is an opportunity for you to tell us about yourself. You’ll also see some of our current graduates who will ask you a series of pre-recorded competency-based questions. You’ll be asked five questions in total, and after each question, you’ll be given time to think and then to respond. For each question, you’ll have 30 seconds to prepare and 3 minutes to record your answer. We recommend you reflect on why you’re applying and your standout experiences. Be ready to talk about these in an engaging way. You may record the interview at any internet-enabled location at a time that’s convenient to you. For technical requirements to complete this assessment, you can refer to the Hirevue Technical Specifications page.
Stage 2: Final assessment
This is the last assessment stage. It consists of a live online session with two professionals at Shell. During this session you will be asked to discuss your thoughts on a case study, which you will have a chance to review 48 hours prior to the session. You will need to read and prepare for this, but don’t worry, more information will be provided closer to the time.
On the day of your assessment, you will be assigned a topic relating to your case study and then given 20 minutes (30 for non-native English speakers) to prepare a 10-minute presentation. This presentation will be followed by questions and additional scenarios from the assessors for up to 20 minutes. Once you have cleared this round, the assessed internship will be offered to you.
If you’re successful in your application, we’d love for you to come and visit us and get a taste of what it’s like to work at Shell. You’ll be welcomed to our offices to meet a variety of people ranging from senior leaders to new joiners like you. Along with seeing the facilities, you’ll get the chance to learn more about the energy industry and available career opportunities, as well as experience the culture at Shell.
*If there are any circumstances preventing a visit to a Shell office, your Recruitment point of contact will be in touch and provide further advice.
Following the successful completion of the assessments, you will be offered a place on the Internship programme.
During an Assessed Internship, you will have a formal mid-term review and End of Internship Review with your mentor and supervisor.
Your success in the Assessed Internship could result in you being offered an employment opportunity in a full-time role.
