Shell Eco-marathon Drivers’ World Championship Explained
Panning footage, from various angles, at times in fast motion, of packed audience stands at the start of the Eco-marathon race track and vehicles lined up on the track, women standing at intervals between the cars, waving flags.
Top UrbanConcept teams from around the world
High angle panning close-ups, in turn, of several of the race vehicles parked at the start, teams surrounding each of their cars, while the audience can be seen in the background.
Race to be the fastest, most energy-efficient driver
Wide panning view of the start, flanked by audience stands, team numbers and flags being held high by people standing on the track alongside and between the cars. Low angle close-up of the Scuderia Ferrari prancing horse logo displaying against a building, with green foliage on tree branches visible in the foreground at frame-left. Wide shot of one of the teams posed together, holding flags and banners and seen against the background of a Shell Eco-marathon branded backdrop.
High angle footage of the team gathered around a Formula One Ferrari nose cone while a man leans over the part, pointing as he speaks to them. Fast motion low-angle footage of a team walking past the very tall entrance sign at the front entrance of the Ferrari museum Maranello, pulling back to a wider view of the team walking towards the entrance. Point of view footage, as from the driver’s side of a racing vehicle, of the passing painted lines on a race track.
Footage of members of the team handling small models of Ferrari sports cars inside the museum. Mid-view of Marc Gene, wearing his Ferrari-branded suit, talking with one of the team members as they both look down the circuit, Marc giving directions with hand gestures.
To win a once-in-a-lifetime experience with Scuderia Ferrari
More footage at the start of the Eco-marathon racetrack, showing audience stands, and cars and teams on track, as previously described.
4 of the fastest, most fuel-efficient teams in 3 energy classes
Three orange gear-shaped circles display abreast of each other across a yellow-shaded frame, containing symbols for the 3 energy classes which are explained in the text below each shape.
Battery Electric / Internal Combustion / Hydrogen
The three previously described shapes rise towards the top of frame and multiple into three sets of three symbols, each set displaying in a table under the name of a continent. Below each continent name and set of symbols, 12 driver helmet images – four rows of three each – display, so that the table contains 36 driver helmet images.
Asia / Americas / Europe
The previous table descends to the bottom of the frame and moves off, while some of the driver helmet images move up into the new table. Again, the images are arranged under three continent names which display below a title bar denoting regional finalists. Under each continent name, there are eight driver helmet images – four rows of two each – so that the table contains 24 driver helmet images.
Asia / Americas / Europe
Compete to be 1 of 8 regional finalists
The previous table descends to the bottom of the frame and moves off, while some of the driver helmet images again move up into the new table. This time, there are nine driver helmet images in a single group – three rows of three each – displaying below a title bar denoting Grand Final. The nine helmet images start to ascend towards top of frame and move out of frame, with video footage of the vehicles on the track flashing and breaking into the animated sequence.
Top 3 teams from each region
Footage of the grand final showing the vehicles flying across the start line, the audience cheering from either side of the track while driver positions display on a screen above the track. This flashes back to footage of the start, the cars pulling off from the starting grid. Low angle wide view of a banner for Make the Future London across one section of the track. Low angle view of yellow banners flying around the race track, also displaying the flag from each country, seen against a background of cloudy blue skies and the London Olympic Park landmark. Footage of the Eco-marathon vehicles on the track.
Then compete at a grand final in London
Footage of the audience in the stands at the Eco-marathon, cutting back to the racing vehicles on the track and then to a wide front view of several of the vehicles descending a downhill stretch on the track, followed by more footage from various angles of the racing vehicles.
Over a set distance with restricted energy
Footage of one of the vehicles approaching, rounding a bend in the track, and then moving off into the distance. Mid-view of Marc Gene, wearing his Ferrari-branded suit, talking with one of the team members at the circuit, then cutting to a low-angle mid view of the two men, as they talk together. Footage of the team member and Marc Gene inside the cockpit of a vehicle, Marc gesturing as he gives instructions.
For the ultimate prize
Front view of a vehicle speeding on the track, approaching the shot. Wide view of a team pushing their vehicle out from a pit area towards the shot, and then pumping their fists as they cheer. High-angle, panning, rear-view footage of a group of people, some wearing t-shirts with the wording “Technical Team”, all watching the data displaying on two large screens. One screen shows the track layout, while the other appears to be a leader board.
And the Shell Eco-marathon Drivers’ World Championship title
More footage of the vehicles approaching the finish on the track as the chequered flag is waves, while the audience in the stands cheer. The shot pans up to a low angle wide view of the Shell Eco-marathon Drivers’ World Championship signage stretched over the race track. More footage of a vehicle approaching the finish as the chequered flag is waved, pulling back to a high angle shot of the stands and track at the finish, as vehicles speed across the finish line.
Low angle footage of a cheering team standing alongside their vehicle, fists pumping in victory. Footage of the winning team mounting the podium, one of the team members holding up a poster of the Formula one Scuderia Ferrari vehicle. Footage of the winning and second and third place drivers standing on the podium while they are congratulated.
The winning driver holds his helmet trophy above his head while the other two drivers hold smaller versions in front of them. More footage of the winning team posing on the podium, some holding up a flag, some holding up the Ferrari poster, and another holding up the winning helmet, all pumping their fists in victory as they cheer.
