It was an exciting finale for the Drivers’ World Championship at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on 8 July. ITS Team 2 from Indonesia’s Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember Surabaya was crowned the ultimate winner of the ultra-efficient energy competition, the second Asian team to win in the three years the competition has been running.
The Shell Eco-marathon Drivers’ World Championship series is a head-to-head race between the 2018 UrbanConcept winners from the Americas, Asia and Europe. ITS Team 2’s gasoline-powered car took the winning position by crossing the finish line first after 10 laps of the track.
The winning team will be awarded an unforgettable prize experience: an invitation to visit Scuderia Ferrari's exclusive headquarters in Italy, for the ultimate grand tour. They will participate in exciting workshops and learn from the best at Ferrari.
ITS Team 2 team manager Rafi Rasyad said: “This is a remarkable achievement. Our hard work over the past months has paid off and we are happy to be crowned the fastest car in this global competition. This is a victory for us, and for Indonesia.”
