A key feature of Shell Thiogro technologies is the micronisation of elemental sulphur into particles small enough to promote oxidation to sulphate within the growing season, helping crops to access sulphur nutrient across the crop cycle.
Patented Shell Thiogro technologies enable fertiliser manufacturers to meet the growing demand for sulphur fertiliser by incorporating micronised elemental sulphur and sulphate sulphur into the world’s most widely used fertilisers, including MAP, DAP, TSP, NPKs, and most recently, Urea.
Inside Shell Thiogro
Shell Thiogro phosphate fertiliser technologies incorporate micronised elemental sulphur and sulphate sulphur into the most widely used phosphate fertilisers, including MAP, DAP, TSP and some NPKs, enabling the production of premium sulphur-enhanced fertilisers.
In mid-2015, Shell Thiogro launched a new technology that incorporates micronised elemental sulphur into urea fertiliser, enabling fertiliser manufacturers to produce a differentiated sulphur-enhanced urea fertiliser that provides more of the nutrients crops need.
Grow your profitability with Shell Thiogro technologies
Shell Thiogro technologies are designed to help fertiliser manufacturers maximise their profitability by reducing production costs while simultaneously producing a value-added, sulphur-enhanced fertiliser that can help farmers increase their crop yields.
The incorporation of sulphur can also help manufacturers to extend their raw materials, enabling production of more fertiliser overall, reduction in raw material requirements, or redirection of extra raw materials to other high-margin uses.
Help your customers boost their yields with sulphur
Sulphur is one of the six plant macronutrients, and is required for proper plant development. Sulphur-enhanced fertilisers produced using Shell Thiogro technologies are proven to help increase yields, particularly in sulphur deficient soils and soils not yet fertilised with sulphur.
Sulphur-enhanced fertilisers produced using Shell Thiogro technologies can also offer end users a number of other benefits over traditional fertilisers:
- Convenience: By incorporating sulphur nutrient into the granule, there is no need to blend in a separate sulphur fertiliser.
- Even sulphur distribution: Each granule is infused with sulphur, helping to provide an even sulphur distribution across the field.
- Potential for cost savings: Elemental sulphur is the most concentrated form of sulphur, which helps to create storage, transportation and application efficiencies.
- Micronutrients: Shell Thiogro technologies can incorporate micronutrients such as zinc and copper into the granule.
