Moving to SAP Ariba

After a successful tender and contract has been awarded, the selected supplier will receive a notification e-mail from the Shell Transacting Team (Trading Relationship Request). Existing suppliers will also be contacted in a similar manner. The e-mail invite will be asking you to join the SAP Ariba Network and will contain a registration link through which the trading relationship with Shell can be accepted.

After deciding upon the relevant account type that best fits your company profile, you will need to follow the steps described below under the process flow for standard or the enterprise account. For more detailed information please refer to the Shell Supplier Transaction Guide or the FAQ section below. This may seem complicated in the beginning, but we are here to help you and we appreciate you joining us on this digitalisation journey!

Account types

All new Shell selected suppliers will need to have, at a minimum, a free standard account with SAP Ariba in order to transact electronically with Shell.

Standard Account (no fees)

The standard account is a simple e-mail-based method for the supplier to respond to Shell’s purchase orders. The Ariba standard account is free and can be used without a subscription or applicable transaction fees, regardless of the volume of transactions and number of documents. Please note that activities such as transmission of purchase orders, service entry sheets and invoices are included under this account type.

Enterprise Account (fees apply)

The Ariba enterprise account incurs fees which are calculated by SAP Ariba (not by Shell) and are based on the volume of transactions and number of documents. The fees can be discussed together with the SAP Ariba onboarding agent or via contacting SAP Ariba Customer Support otherwise the information is available on the SAP Ariba website FAQ. Please note that Catalogs, Dynamic Discounting and Guided Buying are functionalities only available under this type of account.​
