SBPs consist of paraffins and cycloparaffins in the C6-C10 range. Thanks to their simple composition, these narrow boiling point solvents provide predictable and consistent evaporation behaviour that is important in many different uses and applications. Our SBPs have very low total aromatics and benzene content, with virtually undetectable levels of polycyclic aromatics.
Hexane (SBP 65/70) is a colourless fluid with a relatively low and very narrow boiling range, offering a combination of low odour and quick drying properties. Its ability to dissolve many organic compounds and evaporate easily means it is used as a solvent or diluent in a wide range of industrial and professional applications.
Key application areas include polymerisation processes, specialist coatings and adhesives, pharmaceutical and food extraction processes (fish/vegetable oils), industrial cleaning and degreasing, textile and rubber manufacturing and catalyst preparation.
Hexane is a particularly effective edible oil extraction agent, combining high yield from a range of seeds and beans and leaving no solvent residue. A consistent narrow boiling range makes it easy to recycle within the extraction process while its stability and high purity enables it to be re-used.
Our Hexane is manufactured to high standards required to produce a hydrocarbon fluid that offers consistent quality and performance, including feed selection for a consistent composition, including normal Hexane (n-Hexane) content, and a deep hydrogenation process that minimises impurities.
Hexane is offered in two grades – polymerisation and extraction grade. Polymerisation grade Hexane has guaranteed very low levels of impurities - such as aromatics, olefins, carbonyls and acid substances - required for its effective use as a reaction medium for polymerisation processes.

Before you do, please read the following essential information on doing business with us:
Safety is our number one priority. As well as providing customers with information on the safe and environmentally responsible use of our products, we are committed to ensuring that risks to the safety of our staff and our contractors are reduced to the lowest reasonably practicable level. We therefore require assurance from customers that appropriate safety standards for unloading and storage are met before we make deliveries (see the HSSE addenda in our general Terms & Conditions of Sale below). Our HSSE specialists can provide guidance on these standards.
Customers can order and have the product delivered by Shell or collect the product themselves from one of our manufacturing facilities. Available modes of delivery include truck, rail, or inter-modal (separate conditions apply).
In case of customer collections, the Shell site minimum requirements apply. For collection by barge or tanker special safety/vetting standards and requirements apply.
Minimum order size
Deliveries by road should involve fully loaded trucks of minimum 22 tonnes made up of one product. If you collect the product from our site the minimum order size is 18 tonnes.
