Shell Diesel Extra is a new diesel fuel with an exclusive formulation, which is designed to give your engine extra protection at no extra cost. The formulation has been developed together with 3000 Scientists working at Shell's Research Laboratories in 7 countries globally.

Can I safely mix Shell Diesel Extra with other grades of fuel? 
Yes. Shell Diesel Extra can be mixed with all other Diesel fuels without causing any damage to your engine. However to get the continued benefit of Shell Diesel Extra, it is recommended that you refuel with Shell Diesel Extra every time.

Can you mix Shell Diesel Extra and Shell Dieseltech (Southern Africa only)
Yes, Shell Diesel Extra and Shell DieselTech are both formulated to give your engine extra protection at no extra cost and can be mixed.

How much does Shell Diesel Extra cost? 
Shell Diesel Extra will not cost you more that the standard Diesel. You will pay the same price at the pump.

Can newer Diesel vehicles use Shell Diesel Extra? 
Yes. The Shell Diesel Extra formulation contains a powerful detergent that is designed to keep your engine clean and prevent build up of harmful deposits so that it runs more efficiently. The fuel injection systems found in modern diesel cars will not perform as designed to if there is a build up of these harmful deposits. Therefore Shell Diesel Extra keeps the fuel injection system clean as you drive.

Can older Diesel vehicles use Shell Diesel Extra? 
Yes. The benefits of Diesel Extra are can be enjoyed by both older as well as new generation diesel engines. Diesel Extra removes deposits that form on the injector nozzles and thereafter prevents the build up of further deposits. So older engines will need to be protected from these harmful deposits also, to keep it running efficiently.

Shell Diesel Extra's is a unique formulation that keeps your engine clean from harmful injector deposits. Its unique formulation also creates a protective layer over the engine fuels system parts to prevent it from rust and corrosion. This helps keep the your clean as you drive giving you maximum protection at no extra cost. 

What evidence do you have that Shell Diesel Extra is better for a vehicle's engine? 
The exclusive formulation used to make Shell Diesel Extra has undergone rigorous engine testing, proving the protection benefits of this diesel fuel. Are you able to quantify the exact performance/fuel economy/emissions/smoke/noise improvement that will be delivered? 
We have extensive test results that show that all diesel vehicle technologies (light and heavy duty; old and new) can derive a benefit from Shell Diesel Extra. However, just how much an individual vehicle will benefit depends upon many other factors such wind resistance and driver behaviour, age of vehicle, engine technology, how well maintained it is, traffic and road conditions experienced, and so on. It is difficult therefore to make xx% benefit claims for fuel economy.

Is the launch of Diesel Extra simply a re-branding exercise of your current diesel? 
Shell Diesel Extra is absolutely not just a re-branding exercise - our new formulation offers a wide range of additional benefits when compared with our previous Shell Diesel fuel and ordinary diesel available on the market.
