Shell Development Oman (SDO) recently held a two day training programme at the Crowne Plaza entitled “Public Relations & Media” as part of its “Training for Development” social investment initiative. The course helps Omanis strengthen their awareness about the most important public relations and media tools needed to successfully manage an organization.
Globally SME’s are regarded as the backbone of economy and account for private sector employment, regional development and social cohesion. In Oman, the SME sector is growing at a rapid pace and accounts for a larger percentage of self employment. Unfortunately, most potential SME launches are too often hindered by a lack of financing, business development services, access to trade and most importantly the knowledge to sustain.
Shell Development Oman Celebrates the Graduation of 130 young Omanis in its Annual “Careers & Prospects” Ceremony
Shell Development Oman (SDO) recently held its “Careers & Prospects 2013” graduation ceremony under the patronage of His Highness Sayyid Taimur bin Asaad bin Tariq Al-Said, Assistant Secretary General for International Relations, The Research Council. This annual event marks the graduation of young Omanis who have undergone training as part of SDO’s “Training for Employment” initiative and, as a result, have secured jobs for themselves in Oman’s job market. This ceremony was attended by John Blascos, General Manager and Shell Country Chairman, as well as other senior officials from various public and private sector establishments across Oman.
Shell Development Oman (SDO) recently conducted a professional training course for women as part of its “Training for Development” social investment initiative. The course, entitled “Smart Women,” helps promote equal professional opportunity for Omani women.
Two graduation ceremonies, held at the Al Nahda resort Batina and the Royal Oman Police Traffic Safety Institute in Muscat, have taken place for 180 school bus drivers who successfully completed the “Defensive Driving Course for School Bus Drivers.” For the past year, Shell Development Oman (SDO), the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Ministry of Education (MOE) have collaborated in carrying out a programme aimed at equipping bus drivers with the necessary skills to provide schoolchildren in Oman a safe travel environment. This programme was held as part of the company’s social investment programme.
The ongoing Shell Road Safety Awareness Programme for Women – an initiative to empower women to play a leading role in spreading road safety awareness – is spreading the message that women can make a difference. In all likelihood, the long-term outcome of this initiative will be a drastic reduction in the unacceptable number of fatalities and injuries that occur on Oman’s roads every year.
