Shell Rotella® Honors Iconic Tours During 10th Annual Billboard Touring Conference and Awards
Top Acts Inducted into New Shell Rotella Haul of Fame
Shell Rotella was proud to be a sponsor of the 10th annual Billboard Tour Conference and Awards which took place November 13 and 14 in New York City. The conference united today’s top touring professionals to discuss the current state of the industry and culminated in The Billboard Touring Awards, which honors the industry’s top artists, venues, and professionals based primarily on achievements on the Billboard Boxscore chart. In its second year as a sponsor, Shell Rotella took its support a step further by teaming with Billboard to create the Shell Rotella Haul of Fame.
“The Shell Rotella brand is excited to once again be part of the Billboard Touring Conference and Awards, helping to shine a spotlight on the trucking, van and coach companies that work hard behind the scenes to help America’s top artists conduct their tours,” said Chris Guerrero, global brand manager, Shell Rotella. “We welcome the iconic class of inductees into our new Shell Rotella Haul of Fame and celebrate their contributions to the touring industry.”
The Shell Rotella Haul of Fame celebrates the hardworking trucking and touring community from the music industry’s Top 10 Haulers of the past decade. Inductees are those who move the most trucks and buses across North America, bringing music to the people safely and efficiently. In an era when tours can pull more “show” from fewer trucks of production, hundreds of tour buses and vendor big rigs are still coursing through North America every week, delivering thousands of shows to millions of fans annually.
The Shell Rotella Haul of Fame’s first tour selections are: Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, Dave Matthews Band, Kenny Chesney, Rascal Flatts, The Rolling Stones, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, U2 and the Vans Warped Tour. Touring drivers and crews that put in thousands of miles on the road each year to ensure America’s top performers and musicians are able to take the stage.
Vans Warped Tour was named Live Music Hauler of the Decade and Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman of 4fini Productions was presented with the award by Chris Guerrero. Vans Warped Tour moved an army of rock ‘n roll musicians, production and concourse exhibits and attractions to nearly 500 shows across North America over the past ten years. Congratulations to the Warped Tour, and all of the 2013 Haul of Famers.
The industry’s Top 10 Haulers were determined through analysis of Billboard Boxscore with input from artist managers, tour managers, production managers, producers and other touring professionals. The artists, tours and productions that make up this Haul of Fame crossed the entire Lower 48 and Canada over the past decade, rolled up to venues more than 4,000 times, and traveled nearly two million miles leveraging some 200 motor coaches and nearly 500 tightly-packed trailers and haulers combined on every tour.
George Strait was honored with the Legend Of Live Billboard Touring Awards. Strait -- who has forged a reputation as a record-breaker - becomes the first country artist to receive the trophy, which recognizes individuals or bands who've made lasting contributions to live music and the touring business. Beyond success at the box office, the honor rewards professionalism and steadfast commitment to the art and craft of live performance and the fan experience at concerts.
