Shell Goes Global with Kuwait University
“We are honored to be playing such a major role in launching these global initiatives of the College of Business Administration,” commented Kuwait Shell Country Chairman, Ahmed Mouti “At Kuwait Shell, our sponsorship of the Global Relations Office shows our commitment to actively invest in Kuwaiti young talent to increase awareness and create understanding around developments in the global oil industry and to ultimately help the growth of Kuwait through sustained investment in its young talent” he added.
Other achievements in 2007 included Kuwait Shell funding visits by the University’s leading representatives to various UK business schools, participation at GetEnergy Dubai, a global learning and development exhibition and Gourami 2007, a Shell Business challenge event where Kuwaiti students competed in rigorous business simulations. Shell’s contribution to issues related to cultural diversity and resource management was also highlighted at the Talent Management and Leadership Skills Seminar.
“The College of Business Administration’s partnership with Shell has given us another opportunity to participate in and encourage educational development and information sharing through the Global Relations Center with various academic institutions and corporate advisors” said Dr. Rashed Al-Ajmi, Dean of the College of Business and Administration.“With Shell’s support in and outside of the classroom, we are able to promote the University’s reputation regionally as well as globally through exchange programs, faculty recruitment and research. This will not only shed light on the University’s potential but it will also open major windows of opportunity for Kuwait across several sectors” he concluded.
In 2008, Kuwait Shell aims to introduce seminars and lectures on issues ranging from petroleum economics to Information Technology in energy. Shell will also invite Kuwaiti students to participate in Gourami 2008 and welcomes students to apply for Shell’s regional internship program. Throughout the year, Shell will continue to support the planning of the GRO’s academic campaigns and global initiatives in order to contribute to the development of the center through membership of the Advisory board.
