On the occasion that The Shell Company of Thailand Limited has operated the business in Thailand for 100 years on 23 September 1992, staff of the Shell Group of Companies in Thailand have voluntarily contributed funds to establish “Onward with Thailand Foundation”. The Foundation’s objective is to use the fund’s interest to assist those affected from the natural disasters in Thailand and to also help the underprivileged people in the society without involvement in politics. Last year, “Onward with Thailand Foundation” donated to Tsunami victims and helped Thai society in various ways. |

The initiative is fully managed and driven by Shell employees to make Sustainable Development more tangible. The project was encouraged to be independently organized around the globe to target local issues with the aim to use our employee skills to help the community locally. Here in Thailand, the project was launched in June, 2003 with the teaching of "English is Fun" class for local primary school students. The English class is held once a week for 1-3 Grade students. In each class, there are 4-5 volunteer staff take turn to teach English at Wat Klongtoey Nai school, Shell Thailand's neighboring community. |

Shell Children's Day is organised annually for more than 1,000 disadvantaged children from slum communities in Klong Toey area near the Shell’s head office and other areas in Bangkok . The one-day event offers an opportunity for these kids, aged between 3 and 7 under the care of the Human Development Centre, to run and play in a large soccer field in the Shell compound. A lot of games are organised with Shell staff participating and giving away gifts to the children. The event not only helps develop team spirit and sportsmanship for these children but also become a memorable experience to help them grow up to be a good citizen in the society. |

Wat Klong Toey community, which is located close to the Shell’s head office, is one of the poorest and disadvantaged communities in the Bangkok metropolitan area. Pre-school children are left at home during the day while their parents go out to find some low-paid, labour work in the surrounding areas. Shell has supported the community to establish a Day Care Centre to take care of these children. |
