Our environmental programme is geared towards reducing the negative impact of our operations on the environment. The objective is to painstakingly minimise and, where possible, completely eliminate all negative impacts and footprints, in our collective drive to protect the environment in which we operate.

  • Area spread in nine states of the Niger Delta - 70,000 sq kilometers
  • Production capacity of 1.3 million bopd, - over 1,000 producing wells
  • Over 6,000 Km of pipelines & flowlines
  • 87 Flow Stations & 10 Gas Plants

  • More than 10,000 staff

Our Major Environmental Challenges

Regulatory standards, Compliance, Conducting integrated Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) & Environmental Evaluation Reports(EERs), Oil pollution and Compensation Payment management, Waste management, Gas flarinng, Rehabilitation of past impacted areas and sites, Improving environmental performance, External certification of our assets, activities and operations.

  • Delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment (EERs, Baselines, Impact Modeling studies)
  • Application of Geographical Information System/Remote Sensing in operations
  • Sustained environmental monitoring of our operations and activities
  • Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) Mapping of our areas of operations
  • Integrating biodiversity [and hence, sustainable livelihood] in our  environmental management programmes and product delivery
  • Effectively managing and responding to oil spill challenges including crude oil thefts, sabotage & related emergency response.
  • Environmental Assurance & Certification of our activities and operations.
  • Sustaining modern waste management efforts and initiatives 
  • Systematically carrying out remediation of all impacted and polluted sites
