 In 1996 she assumed the role of Head, Divisional Integrated Audit, Shell Petroleum Development Company, (SPDC) Lagos, leading finance and treasury audits in addition to developing computerised risk-driven auditing systems. Yemisi then moved on to become, Assistant Corporate Planner for SPDC from 1997-1999. In that role, she was responsible for strategic planning, including providing support to senior management. Her next move took her to Shell Trustees Nigeria Limited, where she became Head, Pension Fund Investments and Finance, from 1991 to 2001. In that role, she ran SPDC’s $250m Defined Benefit pension fund. After just two years heading the Pension Fund, she was appointed Head, Business Services in SPDC’s Offshore Production Unit, managing the newly set up offshore field development production unit. In 2002,Yemisi became Finance Manager/Director, SNEPCo. This appointment was also significant in that she became the first Nigerian woman appointed to the board of a Shell company in Nigeria. She held that position till 2005 when she became the first Managing Director, Shell Nig. Closed Pension Fund Administrator. In that role, she was responsible for managing SPDC’s $1 billion Defined Benefit pension fund, in addition to setting up and running a fully autonomous company, and developing/ implementing the company’s response to the 2004 Pension Reform Act. She is an active member of various organizations, all of which she also serves on their Boards, including C.O.P.E (Breast Cancer Awareness NGO), Missionary Kids Tertiary Education Trust Fund and LEAP, Africa. A graduate of the University of Manchester, UK and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, Yemisi is also a voracious reader, an amateur writer and a keen swimmer. She is married to Femi Ayeni and they are blessed with two daughters.
