 Between then and 1991 he worked in well site operations, subsurface geological mapping, petroleum engineering disciplines and seismic interpretation. In 1991, he proceeded on overseas assignment to Petroleum Development Company of Oman as senior production seismologist, responsible for development seismic matters related to oil and gas appraisals in Southern Oman green and brown fields. Chike came back to Nigeria 1996 and between then and 1998, progressed through various senior geological positions becoming SPDC’s Corporate Chief Production Geologist/Seismologist in 1997. In mid 1998, he was broadened to a higher technical role by being appointed one of the three Asset Development Managers in the East, a role where he was responsible for planning, managing and executing the Asset’s Exploration and Development activities. In 1999 following a re-organisation, Chike was appointed Chief Geologist for SPDC, a position where he was responsible not only for developing/managing the geologists but also the geological standards, processes and guidelines required for Field studies/reviews In 2003, Chike was appointed the Business Development and Exploration Manager and also the Geosciences Skills Manager for SPDC. He had the technical responsibility for managing and executing SPDC’s and JV Partners Exploration and Appraisal activities in addition to all the Geoscientists development and resourcing requirements. To prepare him for this role, Chike attended the Ashtridge Business School London and Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania USA in 2001 and 2003 respectively. In 2004, his job was re-designated Onshore & Shelf Exploration Manager (broadened to include inland basins opportunities in addition to the SPDC’s Onshore and Shallow offshore acreages); a position he holds before now as General Manager Onshore and Shelf Exploration. Chike has been an active member of various associations, notably a fellow of Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (FNAPE,) member of Nigerian Mining and Geoscience Society (NMGS) and Society of Petroleum Engineering (SPE) Chike is married to Maureen and they are blessed with children. |
