Fuelproof

Fuelproof:

Fuelproof is a fully automated fleet management system that utilises state of the art technology. It comprises of both equipment for the vehicle and equipment for the station.

How does Fuelproof Work?

Once a Fuelproof vehicle presents on site, the attendant should:

    • Direct the vehicle to the nearest Fuelproof pump.
    • Once at the pump the Pump Attendant (PA) should insert the nozzle into the tank,
    • After insertion the pump will then authorise the fuelling.
    • After the fuelling the PA should then hand over the automated receipt to the driver

Every fortnight SBPK will poll the data from your station to Head office. At head office the data will be processed and then sent to the customers in a desirable format. The reports are designed to give the customers efficiency parameters of their vehicles and other fuelling data such as:

    • Amount of fuel taken in the month
    • Amount in value of the fuel taken
    • The prevailing pump prices at the time of fuelling
    • The kilometres travelled during the entire period
    • The various stations the drivers fuelled from

FUELPROOF EQUIPMENT:

Fuelproof is a computer controlled self service vehicle refuelling system. The system both controls and monitors the around the clock fuelling of authorised vehicles. Whenever a vehicle is refuelled Fuelproof will download odometer and engine hours reading plus additional information from the vehicle.

VIT: Vehicle Information Transceiver:

The VIT communicates with the vehicle identification unit . When communication is established, data is transferred to the site controller. The site controller operates the pump and registers the transaction

Vehicle Information Transceiver

SCU: Station Controller Unit.

The SCU records each refuelling transactions together with relevant information. i.e. vehicle identity, system user code, date time of filling, type and grade of fuel, optionally additional vehicle information such as odometer reading engine hours etc. It controls the pump and will only enable refuelling if the nozzle is inserted into the authorised fuel inlet and if the vehicle is authorised and if the correct grade of fuel has been selected.

Manual Authoriser

The Fuelproof system has an option manual authoriser. This hand held device enables the station operator to manually activate a Fuelproof pump to supply fuel to vehicles not equipped with the technology.

The operation activates the fuel dispenser with the manual authoriser near the nozzle antennae, then push the button to transmit the authorisation, information is then sent to the SCU which in turn sends start transaction to the pump.

To authorise the fuel do the following actions:

1. Open vehicle fuel tank

2. Remove dispensing nozzle from the dispense and raise dispenser control lever.

3. Position authoriser with narrow end near push button against VIU transceiver loop installed on disposing nozzle and press authoriser push button.

4. Insert dispensing nozzle into fuel tank inlet and press nozzle lever to start refuelling.

5. Return nozzle to dispenser. Manual authorisation is cancelled when dispenser lever is pushed down.

Receiver Coil

The receiver coil is connected to the nozzle. It communicates with the SCU

The Receiver coil on the vehicle communicates with the VIT.

Fuel-0-pass:

Fuel-O-pass is a contactless (RF) tag for vehicle and/or driver identification for vehicle refuelling. FuelOpass automatically identifies the vehicle or user and authorises the fuelling of the vehicle. Just insert the nozzle into the vehicle's fuel inlet; the rest is done by the FuelOpass System. Fill up and go!

FuelOpass is a member of the Fuel-0-mat family of products and is basically a passive (transponder) identification unit. It does not require any power source. With the FuelOpass System there is no need for credit cards, vouchers, cash, or any other method of payment. The payment method is automated electronic transfer, and the account information is stored in the FuelOpass unit. When the nozzle is inserted into the fuel inlet of the vehicle, or when the tag or card comes near the FuelOpass reader, the information from the FuelOpass unit is transferred to the fuel station site controller for identification, authentication, and authorisation, after which the driver can fill up and go.

The FuelOpass unit contains customer account information and optional loyalty and vehicle data such as vehicle plate number, fuel type, etc. The unit is reliable and secure. The FuelOpass unit is available in various forms:

Ring

The FuelOpass Ring is a unit that is mounted around the vehicle's fuel inlet. It can be mounted in few seconds and is protected against removal. When the fuel nozzle is inserted into the vehicle's fuel inlet it triggers the transfer of customer information to the fuel station site controller for identification and authorisation.

Audit Trail Printer:

The audit trail printer is installed in the station conveniently to issue automatic receipts of transactions done. It shows the following:

1. Date and time of transaction

2. Vehicle ID

3. Amount of fuel and price

4. Driver ID

5. Kilometres

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

FUELPROOF VEHICLES:

1. Driver Turns off Engine

2. Check whether vehicle has Fuelproof sticker on the windscreen

3. If Yes, open the vehicle fuel tank cover

4. Remove dispensing nozzle from dispenser and raise control lever.

5. Insert dispensing nozzle into fuel tank inlet and press nozzle lever to start refuelling ( lock lever in position)

6. If no fuel is dispensed re-insert the nozzle into fuel tank inlet.

7. Wait until dispensing is completed. Fuel dispensing stops when your tank is full.( nozzle lever is then automatically released)

8. Return nozzle to dispenser and close fuel tank.

9. Receipt is printed automatically.

NON FUELPROOF VEHICLES:

1. Driver turns off engine.

2. Open vehicle fuel tank cover

3. Remove dispensing nozzle from dispenser and raise dispenser control lever

4. Use manual authoriser. Hold manual authoriser near the nozzle transceiver and press on.

5. Insert dispensing nozzle into the fuel tank inlet and press nozzle lever to start refuelling ( lock lever in position.

6. Wait until dispensing is completed.

7. Return nozzle to dispenser and close fuel tank.

Use Of Emergency Override Switch

The Emergency override switch disable the fuel dispensing control; functions of the Fuelproof system. Therefore, this switch must only be used according to the rules established by management. Each switch controls one dispenser. To allow free dispensing of fuel set the switch to the by-pass position.

What to do if:

1. Dispenser does not start

Check that power is applied to dispenser and to controller

2. No Fuel is Delivered

Set dispenser to level off, then raise lever again. Also check that dispensing nozzle is fully inserted into the tank inlet. If this particular vehicle cannot be refuelled at any other Fuelproof dispenser at the station check that it is authorised to fuel. If it is authorised to refuel, then its VIU transmitter is probably defective.

Call for technical support.

3. Vehicle Device is defective

In this case, fuel will not be dispensed, contact SBPK if you have to fuel the vehicle manually, fill in the manual fuelling form available. Capture all the details as stipulated in the form and send this to SBPK more than 7 days after the incident.

4. System is Defective

This will rarely happen, but if it does , DO NOT TURN THE PUPMS TO MANUAL.

Inform SBPK and get guidance on how to proceed.

5. New Customers:

All FP vehicles will have the FP stickers on the windscreen. If the car is not identified by the system DO NOT TURN THE CUSTOMER AWAY. Kindly contact SBPK and get guidance.

6. Receipt Printer Defective:

Inform SBPK immediately. A technician will then be sent to identify and rectify the problem. Inform the customers and give them an alternative date to pick their automated receipt.

7. Receipt Printer out of Stationary:

This should NEVER HAPPEN. All stationary orders should be placed 48 hours in advance. Customers lose confidence in the system if they cannot get receipt.
