Eng. Patrick Obath – Country Chairman, Managing Director

 

Patrick joined Kenya Petroleum Refineries Ltd (KPRL) in 1976 in their engineering department and rose through the ranks to become the KPRL Chief Engineer in 1996.  In between, he worked in various engineering and Health Safety And Environment (HSE) management positions at KPRL as well as in overseas postings: Shell UK, Shell Haven Refinery 1982-84; Shell International Oil Products, The Hague 1991-93; Malaysia Liquified Natural Gas 1993-96.

 

In 2000, he left KPRL to join Shell East Africa, Nairobi as the Regional HSE advisor. In 2001, he was appointed the Distribution Manager for Shell East Africa and in May 2005, he moved to Kenya Shell limited as the Country Chairman and Managing Director.

 

Patrick holds a BSc. In Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK. He is a member of the Institute of Petroleum, UK, a member of the Institute of Engineers, Kenya and is also a Registered Engineer, Kenya. He is married with three children.

 

Outside office, Patrick enjoys golf, music and motor sport. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Muthaiga.

 

 

Martin Otiti - Retail Manager

 

Martin Joined Kenya Shell ltd in 1996 in the commercial department, moving on to Retail business as a Retail Business Manager before taking over his current role. Martin holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Engineering and Master in Business Administration (MBA) all from the University of Nairobi.

 

 

John  N N  Ng’ang’a - Operations Manager

 

Graduate Bcom (1977) from Nairobi University. 2 years in Development banking, Over 27 years with shell – 5 years business analyst; 4 years in aviation; 3 years in depot management and retail /commercial field sales; 8 years as Distribution manager; 2 years as Supply manager  for Kenya ,Uganda Tanzania and Rwanda; 5 years as  Shell East Africa Region transport advisor, and from Sept 06 back to Kenya as Operations Manager.

 

 

Susan Mwaura - Human Resources Manager

 

Susan joined Shell in May 2002 in the East Africa Region and moved to Kenya Shell in February 2005. Before her current position she was the HR Policy Advisor Shell East Africa Region. Susan has previously worked in Unilever Kenya in both HR Industrial Relations and Marketing as a Brand Manager and briefly in Unilever UK in HR Africa Graduate Recruitment. Susan holds a Masters degree (MSc.) in International Business Management from University of Reading- UK; a Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Higher National Diploma 1in Management from Kenya Institute of Management.

 

 

Peter Ndirangu - Finance Manager

 

Peter joined Kenya Shell Limited in 1997 as a Senior Internal Auditor having gained vast experience in auditing from Price Water House Coopers. Over the years he has been appointed to several senior positions within the company. This included Treasury Accountant, Financial Controller And Management Accountant, Class of Service Finance Manager-SOPAF, Finance Manager-Shell Uganda Limited and Shell Rwanda SARL. Peter is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) K. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is currently doing his Master in Business Administration at the University of Nairobi.

 

 

Stephen Isaboke – Business to Business Manager

 

Stephen joined Kenya Shell in June 1998. He was appointed Business to Buisness Manager in July 2006. Prior to that he had held a number of senior positions including Brand and Communications Manager, Reseller Manager and LPG Manager. Before joining Shell Stephen had previously worked for Unilever and Sara Lee Kenya where he held a number of positions in Sales and Marketing. Stephen holds an MBA degree in Strategic Management and Marketing and a B.Com (Hons) degree in Marketing both from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Post-graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK.  He is a member of Marketing Society of Kenya and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) UK.

 

He is married with 2 children. In his leisure time he is a social golfer!

 

 

Ben Obura – East Africa Supply and Trading Manager

 

Ben joined Kenya Shell in June 1995 in the Commercial Department and then moved on to the Supply department as the Supply Analyst and later Supply Manager Kenya before taking up his current regional role in 2001.   Before joining Shell, Ben had worked as an Engineer with the Ministry of Energy Kenya,  KPCU and also as a Consultant with Sharon Africa.  He holds a Msc degree in Chemical Engineering, is a member of the Institute of Engineers, Kenya and is also a Registered Engineer, Kenya.

 

Outside office, Ben enjoys working out in the gym and community service.

 

 

Stephen Gikonyo – Business to Consumer Manager

 

Joined Kenya Shell in October 2000 in the lubricants department as a Lubricants Sales Engineer and rose up to a position of Lubricants Manager.   He took up his current role in July 2006.     Stephen holds a B.Sc (Hons) in Mech. Engineering from the University of Nairobi.  Previously he work for Agip Ltd in the lubricants department.

 

 

Catherine Musakali – Company Secretary/ Legal Officer

 

Catherine joined Kenya Shell on 1st December 1997 as a Legal Assistant. In December 2001 she rose to the Position of Company Secretary/ Legal Officer.

Catherine Holds an LL.B degree from the University of Nairobi, and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She also holds an LL.M from the University of Nairobi which she pursued on a Sasakawa scholarship.

 

She is a Certified Company Secretary and has served on the Education Committee of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya. She is also a Member of the Law Society of Kenya and serves on its Committee on Continuous Legal Education.

 

Catherine is married with three children.

 

Her hobbies include reading, social work, theatre, traveling, listening to music and a variety of outdoor activities, and is trying her hand at golf.
