Hope Project

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the People's Republic of China, Shell Hong Kong and Shell Companies in Mainland China joined forces to donate RMB 200,000 to Project Hope to build a new school for 600 children in a remote village in Wuqi Country, Shanxi Province.

The school was completed in 2000 and handed over in October. It has replaced the former Miaogou Primary School where the classrooms were in poor and dangerous condition, and more than doubles previous classroom capacity.
