Shell Floraphalte represents the next generation of clear binder for production of high performance coloured asphalts. It is manufactured using plant based renewable ingredients and a high performance polymer to ensure excellent performance and durability.

Developed by our in-house technical experts and building on our extensive range of high quality binders, Shell Floraphalte comes with the assurance and technical support, that Shell offers to all customers.  Shell Floraphalte is the ideal binder for demonstrating your environmental credentials and the perfect solution for coloured surfaces. Ideal for use in parks, urban heritage sites, university campuses, cycle ways and sports stadiums. And – environmental friendly does not have to mean a compromise on performance.

Environmental benefits
Shell Floraphalte has a high flash point and a low odour and requires lower manufacturing and application temperatures. It can be produced at up to 40°C lower mixing temperatures compared with traditional asphalt, providing reduction of emissions, including CO2, at the mixing plant and a significant reduction of the total energy consumption.

Exceptional visual appearance
Shell Floraphalte is virtually translucent and can be laid in any desired colour, even natural colours to match the needs of designers. It can also be used to produce a range of subtly coloured asphalts, by adding small amounts of conventional pigment. The translucent nature allows harmonisation with urban heritage sites, tourist locations, etc.

Leading technical performance
Shell Floraphalte has been extensively tested in both the lab and field application and contains a high quality polymer to give enhanced performance. Shell Floraphalte delivers excellent performance in ageing resistance, adhesion, water resistance and hence durability.

Shell Floraphalte – the complete solution
Shell Floraphalte is available as a 70/100 grade and is suitable for all pedestrian and cycle lane applications. As with other Shell Colour Pavement solutions, Shell Floraphalte comes as a complete solution including training for contractors, flexible and adaptive supply logistics and packaging, as well as expert technical advice.
