Shell re-opens regional office in Austin, Texas to strengthen relations with state government and industry stakeholders

20 Apr 2004

Shell Oil Company announced today that it has re-established a regional office in Austin, Texas to oversee the company’s growing government affairs activities in Texas. Ms Jayme Cox, who recently was named Manager of Government Relations, Southwest Region, will head the Austin office. The Southwest regional office will also cover government affairs activities in New Mexico and Oklahoma.

The Southwest Region, particularly Texas, is home to major Shell affiliated assets including its U.S. corporate headquarters, two refineries/chemical plants, several terminals, pipelines, onshore natural gas fields, two wind energy farms and numerous Shell and Texaco branded gasoline stations. An office in the Texas State Capital will strengthen communication with key leaders in all branches of state government.

Cox most recently served as Manager of Public Affairs for Sunoco, Inc, where she was responsible for managing Sunoco’s state government relations in the Western United States.

“Our new Austin office is centrally located to promote Shell’s diverse business interests in the Southwest U.S,” said Brain Malnak, Vice President of Government Affairs. “Jayme is well versed in a broad array of issues facing the energy industry, which will help us to forge mutually beneficial relations with important state government and industry stakeholders.”

Prior to joining Sunoco, Cox served as Executive Director of Leadership Tulsa, as highly respected nonprofit organization in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which advocates and educates citizens for community leadership. She holds a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma.
