LSU students invited to participate in The Shell Campus Pit Stop Challenge

11 Oct 2004

In an effort to engage and attract students, Shell Oil Company has organized a campus recruiting event on Tues Oct 12 that will allow teams of LSU students—role-playing as a pit crew—to compete against the clock to change a tire on the Shell sponsored Formula One Ferrari racing car.

Students interested in participating are encouraged to pre-register at www.shellus.com, under Jobs & Careers.  The event will take place at LSU’s Center for Engineering and Business Administration parking lot on Nicholson Extension from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.  Representatives will also be available to answer any questions and offer materials regarding career opportunities at Shell.  Shell offers a wide variety of opportunities for students pursuing technical, science, and business degrees.

“This competition demonstrates the types of skills and qualities that we are looking for in employees such as teamwork, ability to perform under pressure and communication skills—and the students have a great time participating,” said Roxanne Decyk, senior vice president of Shell Corporate Affairs/Human Resources.

Though this is the first time The Shell Campus Pit Stop Challenge has been rolled out to college campuses in the U.S., it has been a popular attraction in Shell’s recruiting events in Europe and at large trade shows, such as Offshore Technology Conference.  In addition to LSU, Shell will visit campuses in Michigan, Colorado and Texas throughout October.
