Guy graduated from the Catholic University Leuven (Belgium) with an engineering and MBA degree. After a short tenure as a research assistant in corporate finance at his alma mater and a stint in the army, he joined Shell late 1989. The first 5 years were spent in the Chemicals division in a number of roles in economics, business and production planning in Pernis, Rotterdam and London. In 1994 he moved to the Oil Products Business in Douala, first as Finance manager for Cameroun, later as Cluster Finance & IT manager for Central Africa covering Cameroun, Gabon, Chad and Congo. This was followed by two Exploration and Production assignments in Aberdeen ending as Strategy, Economics and Planning manager. After two and a half years in Oman as Controller of Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), Guy joined Central Finance in April 2005 as Corporate Controller. In July 2005 he was also nominated the UK Country Controller.
