Overview

The North Sea has a rich history and one which was never expected to last so long or to be so fruitful. Beginning with nothing, over the last 35 years, this industry has invested over 200 billion pounds and produced around 27 billion barrels of oil for UK plc. Shell has grown up with the North Sea, investing as operator, one quarter of the 200 billion pounds and producing a quarter of the total production.
