Decommissioning in the North Sea

Over the life of an oil and gas field, facilities need to adapt to changing production requirements.  Some facilities become obsolete or uneconomical to sustain.  Shell is committed to decommissioning such facilities in accordance with legislation whilst managing safety, societal and environmental and financial aspects.

We want to consult with stakeholders so that all options are investigated before decisions on decommissioning are taken.  We also need to ensure that the decommissioning activities are well planned and understood.
