Manning a ship is a 24 hour daily operation. The Deck Officers are on watches throughout the night keeping a lookout while the Engineer Officers are always on call ready to sort problems out when things go wrong. A normal working day is described below but no two days are the same. You have to expect the unexpected.

Heavy traffic in the Singapore Straits means the Bridge is fully manned. The Captain, 2nd Officer and deck cadets are keeping a sharp lookout for other ships and navigational dangers.

 |
Planned Maintenance is an important part of an Engineer Officer's job. Here one of the Engineers is carrying out a crankshaft deflection examination using high precision instrumentation.

Alarm bells have rung. Everyone puts on their lifejacket and goes to the muster stations. Thankfully it's only a drill!

Galley staff are busy making the final preparations for dinner. Meanwhile the senior staff and safety officer are still busy as they attend the daily work planning meeting to review progress.

After dinner it's a relaxing time for everyone. You can watch a movie, chat in the lounge, write a letter, use the gym or just read a book listening to music.
