KPI: External perception of environmental performance

Shell maintains leadership of the sector in terms of environmental performance, in the perception of Special Publics (academics, government, media, non-governmental organisations) as measured by the annual Shell Reputation Tracker survey.

Shell’s rating across 11 of our key markets is compared with the best-rated other energy company in the 6 markets where it has a significant presence. The response scale was changed in 2007, so the 2007-08 trend is a pure comparison, while previous years’ figures represent the best comparison available. The 2008 findings show Shell maintaining a strong lead on environmental responsibility.

The question is asked by Ipsos MORI, an independent research firm, as part of the annual Shell Reputation Tracker survey.
