Animal testing standard
As a responsible company we work to offer products that are safe for employees, customers, the wider public and the environment. This means we sometimes have to test the safety of our products on animals. We do this following very strict guidelines that minimise the number of animals used and their suffering.
We have had a company-wide animal testing standard since 2001.
The topics it covers include:
- guaranteeing the welfare of any animals used;
- minimising the number of animals used;
- sponsoring research into alternative testing methods;
- sharing information to reduce the number of tests; and
- assessing laboratory standards
We summarise our approach as T-E-S-T:
- test only when required;
- evaluate the laboratory;
- strive to apply the 3Rs - reduction, refinement and replacement; and
- track progress of research programme and monitor performance.
