Reporting against the UN Global Compact: Anti-corruption

At the heart of our Business Principles are three core values: honesty, integrity and respect for people. To us business integrity means taking a stand against all dishonest or illegal practices including bribery and corruption.

Below we detail our performance against the Global Compact principle 10.

Principle 10: Businesses should work against all forms of corruption, including extortion and bribery.

Integrity is one of our three core values and a cornerstone of our Business Principles.

Our commitment to business integrity is clear and unequivocal: zero tolerance for bribery and fraud. Since 2005, we have had a global helpline and website for staff and business partners to confidentially report concerns and get advice on any suspected infringements of the law or our Business Principles. The helpline is managed by an independent external specialist, and is available 24 hours a day, all year round.

We report cases of bribery and fraud to the Audit Committee of the Board of Royal Dutch Shell plc. and review our relationships with anyone found to be taking bribes or committing fraud, up to and including ending the relationship. In 2008 we ended our relationship with 138 staff and contractors.
