The lecture was about the basics of entrepreneurship and the management of small to medium-sized enterprises.
The workshop is the third to be organised with the department and the first in cooperation with a high school. The objective was to raise awareness of how to develop a bright idea into a profitable enterprise as well as the basics of planning, managing, marketing, accounting for and developing a small to medium-sized business. Students were given various stimulating exercises and games that brought the entrepreneurial concept to life.
Intilaaqah is a social development programme based on Shell LiveWIRE, a programme run by Shell in more than 25 countries worldwide. Intilaaqah encourages Qataris to consider entrepreneurship as a valuable career option.
Andy Brown, Shell Executive Vice President Qatar said “We are keen to take part in empowering the youth of Qatar with skills that could enhance their futures through our Intilaaqah program. Today we have extended our cooperation with the Ministry of Social Affairs to reach high school students. We look forward to continue our efforts for the benefit of young Qataris and Qatari families.”
The Department of Productive Families Development within the Ministry of Social Affairs was established in 2009. The role of the department is to guide and develop Qatari citizens and families towards economic growth and empowerment as a contribution to a stable and constructive society. The Department cooperates with different organisations and sectors to establish development projects towards this goal, moreover, works together with institutes and programmes like Intilaaqah to provide the necessary training, in addition to offering support services especially marketing the products of these families.
Intilaaqah Qatar was established in 2006 . Intilaaqah supports the National Vision 2030, which states that ‘training and support for entrepreneurs is a basic precondition for enabling the private sector to carry out its required role’. |
