Tameer - Annual Awards 2006

Shell Pakistan’s Social Investment Project Shell Tameer recently held its Annual Awards 2006 on Thursday May 11th at Shell House in Karachi, which recognized the leading young Entrepreneurs of the year. This year’s top 10 businesses included bright young minds from all over the country from places including Lahore, Dir, Dadu, Hyderabad, Quetta and Karachi.

The event comprised a day-long exhibition in which the young entrepreneurs showcased their respective businesses, followed by the awards ceremony to the Judging, while the exhibition was open to the public and Shell Employees in the afternoon. The blend of businesses which ranged from high-end fashion designing, soap & candle making, ceramics, bird farming, honey production, ethnic handicrafts, media production, software solutions and event management provided came together as a colourful and vibrant amalgamation.  This eye-catching display caught the interest of Shell Employees as well as the public and visitors were stopping by till the very end of the exhibition. Judges included Mr. Hussain Dawood, Chairman of the Dawood Group, Mr. Majyd Aziz, Chairman of the MHG Group of Companies, Ms. Farhat Anis, Senior Correspondent The News, our very own Mr. Asif Sindhu, CFO Shell Pakistan. Facilitating the Judges was Provincial Chief of SMEDA, Mr. Asad Zahoor.

The decision of the judges was made public at the Awards Ceremony, held at the Shell House Auditorium in the evening. The Chief Guest for the event was Jehangir Khan Tareen, Federal Minister of Industries, Production and Special Initiatives. Also in attendance were Mr. Farooq Rahmatullah former Managing Director of the Shell Group, the incoming Managing Director of Shell Group, Mr. Quentin D’Silva and Mr. Saleemuddin Ahmed , former Managing Trustee of Shell Tameer. The top 4 business of the year were Clayworks, Olive, Kaarvan Carafts and Raza Birds Farm. The prizes were sponsored by Shell Tameer, Inbox Business Technologies(Pvt) Limited and Premier Systems

The hard work of the Tameer team –Afshan Khan, Durriya Zaidi and Aftab Alam, the Safety and Security personnel and the Mob boys made this event a resounding success, which was the first time any event of Tameer’s on this scale was held on Shell property.
