Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) was established on August 19, 1982 as a non-stock, non-profit organization engaged in social development social development projects aimed to uplift the quality of life in rural communities in the Philippines. The Shell companies in the Philippines set up a seed fund for PSFI to become sustainable in the long term. A Board of Trustees composed of leading personalities in Philippine civil society provides policy directions and vision for the foundation. Full-time, regular staff members, consultants, and project staff manage day-to-day operations. Since 1982, PSFI has been assisting out-of-school youth (OSY), farmers, fisherfolks, unemployed women, young scientists, teachers, soldiers, military dependents and former communist rebels through various training programs all over the country. To date, the foundation has helped more than 443,701 individuals from these different sectors. Further, it is actively involved in community affairs and has assisted other Shell companies in the Philippines in fostering relationships with various communities that they directly affect nationwide. PSFI is an accredited NGO of the Philippine Council for NGO Certification.
