Medium Curing Cutbacks
Rollers

Shell medium curing cutback asphalt contains a traditional penetration grade asphalt cement, and a dilutent or 'cutter' of medium volatility.

The major use of Shell cutbacks is for road maintenance where it is used a prime coat of the base course before the bituminous surface course is layed. Its purpose is to bind the granular material of the base to the asphalt layer.

Medium curing cutbacks can also be used for the following:

    • Roofing - as a waterproofing membrane and as an adhesive to stick chippings onto a flat, horizontal roof to minimise the effects of weathering from the sun.
    • Damp-Proof Courses - used as damp-proof membranes in concrete floors, particularly for small repairs or where extensions are keyed into existing structures.
    • Fish Net Coating - to prolong service life of fish nets.

Shell medium curing cutbacks are available in MC-70, MC-250 and MC-800 grades.
