The award was granted to SPEX in recognition of its outstanding safety culture that enabled the company and its contractors to achieve 10 million hours LTI-free in September 2008. Malampaya signaled the birth of the natural gas industry in the Philippines and commenced operations in October 2001.
The Chevron PRAISE Award recognises any eligible group or individual whose accomplishment is considered exceptional and worthy of presidential recognition. The recognition can be for proactive efforts in reducing or eliminating safety and environmental incidents or for exceptional HSE results. It is the highest distinction given to a group or individual whose accomplishment is considered exceptional by the global upstream leadership team and includes exceptional success in performance result metrics in the field of Safety.
SPEX has been operating the field LTI free since 2002 and has achieved a milestone of 10 million hours LTI free operations on September 7, 2008. SPEX has developed an outstanding safety culture within the Malampaya organisation that has paved the way for exceeding the 10 million hours LTI free operations.
Romeo Solis- Operations Manager of Chevron Malampaya on the other hand, also presented the 10 million hours Safety Crystal Award to Perrin -- another remarkable example from Shell Philippines Exploration of its steadfast commitment in propagating safety in the workplace and adhere to safety standards and policies and foster a more responsible safety culture in all the worksites.
Also present were the SPEX's Senior Leadership Team, representatives from the Philippine National Oil Company - EC and Kevin Lyon - President of Chevron Malampaya and the rest of the Chevron Malampaya team.
The event also served as a farewell party to Keith Perrin and a welcome gathering for incoming SPEX LSEPR and incoming Asset Manager Sebastian Quinones.
