Shell received an award of recognition from the Sagip Pasig Movement (SPM) for consistently working towards the rehabilitation of water systems such as the Pasig River through its corporate programmes, policies and advocacy, as well as through its relevant and fruitful partnership with the SPM. |
Shell has been a staunch supporter of efforts in rehabilitating Pasig River in partnership various groups including SPM, a community-based organization working for environmental change. SPM led the Pasig River Fluvial Parade, which is now on its 16th year. The event, which Shell has participated in since 2004, aims to raise public concern and advocacy among the participating communities, institutions, and companies on the growing concerns over the deterioration of Philippine rivers.
The awarding ceremony was held at the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCCA) last May 22, 2009.
