 Playing the 9-round Swiss System tournament, West Negros University student Cajeras trounced the remaining 21 finalists to lead the 14-under squad with his score of 8 points and 43 Bucholz points taking home a P20,000 cash prize and trophy. Joining Cajeras in the Kiddies top three spot were Aglipay 8 Oberio (front row, 2nd from left) of Nieves Villarica National High School – Samal who garnered 7.5 points and 48 Bucholz points and Jan Nigel Galan (front row, third from left) of La Salle Greenhills who finished with 6.5 points and 47 Bucholz points.
Jeremiah Alfonso (front row, extreme right) of Far Eastern University and Christian Nanola (front row, 2nd from right) of Laguna College of Business and Arts snared the 3rd and 4th runner up spots with the scores of 5.5 points and 5 points, respectively.
The Shell Active Chess program, which supports the empowerment of the youth as part of the company’s overall Sustainable Development commitment, is sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines and is backed by Shell Fuels, Shellane, Shell Helix, Shell Rimula, Shell Advance and McDonald’s, in cooperation with SM Supermalls, LCC Mall – Naga, and Brickstone Mall – Tuguegarao City.
