With the 500-player roster in the Central Visayas stage slated on August 23-24 at SM City Cebu already filled up as early as two weeks ago, organizers have opened up registration for the Iloilo leg this early in anticipation of the big number of participants vying for berths in the grand finals in November.
Twenty four players – 12 each in the 14-under and 20-under classes – have clinched spots in the grand finals slated on November 8-9 at SM Megamall with 24 more to be culled from the last four legs of the nationwide talent-search sponsored by Pilipinas Shell. The top three finishers in the Kiddies and Juniors divisions will advance to the national championships, which has produced the likes of Grand Masters Wesley So and Mark Paragua.
