The Shell National Students Art Competition and Exhibition, an annual event that supports young Filipino artists, won Awards of Excellence for the staging of its 40th year under the Institutional & Corporate PR Programs and Tools of PR categories. Likewise, the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Report 2006 won an Award of Excellence for Special Publication under the Tools of PR category. The HSE Report is an annual account of Shell in the Philippines’ performance in the areas of health, safety, and environment, which are vital components of the company’s business.
In addition to three Awards of Excellence, SciP also received two ANVIL Awards of Merit under the Corporate Identity Program category for its “Touching Lives” Corporate Building Campaign, and under the Institutional Program for the Youth category for its Shell Art Interaction Program. The “Touching Lives” campaign is a tri-media corporate branding campaign launched by Shell to showcase true-to-life and inspiring stories derived from its four key programs, “Gas Mo, Bukas Ko”, “Sanayan sa Kakayahang Agrikultural”, “Gawad Kalinga”, and the “La Mesa Watershed Rehabilitation”. The Shell Art Interaction aims to fill in the dearth of reference materials of leading mainstream Filipino artists and the lack of exposure of Filipino fine arts students in the provinces to the works of renowned visual artists in the country. The much-coveted Anvil Awards, dubbed as the Oscars of Public Relations in the Philippines, is given annually by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) to outstanding public relations programs and tools that reflect and promote public interest, good values and genuine service to the community and society.
Only 97 entries from over 200 entries submitted by 85 top corporations, organizations, and government agencies won in this tightly contested and prestigious recognition. Secretary Francisco T. Duque III of the Department of Health, who served as Chairman of the Board of Jurors, led this year’s distinguished multi-sectoral jury.
