Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation recently launched Shell Diesoline Ultra, the new and improved diesel designed to protect the engine. This new formula brings superior protection to diesel-powered engines by keeping its injectors free from deposits and forming a protective shield over vital engine parts. “The new and improved Shell Diesoline Ultra is designed to keep your engine clean, protecting it against corrosion and the effects of aging at no extra cost,” says Carl Posadas, Shell’s Fuels Brand Manager. Shell Diesoline Ultra gives motorists added protection benefit and carries the theme “Dagdag Proteksyon sa Makina na Walang Dagdag sa Presyo”. Motorists nowadays seek competitively priced fuels but they do not want to compromise the life of their engines. They believe that their vehicle is an investment hence they are particular in the kind of diesel that they use. In short, they want better value for their money. Recognizing this need, Shell introduces Shell Diesoline Ultra, which provides extra protection at no extra cost. In its commitment to protecting not just the engine but the driver as well Shell, offers the following maintenance and driving tips for diesel powered engines: - Clean or change your air filters regularly to prevent clogged air intake, which subsequently increases smoke. Diesel powered vehicles require more air intake than vehicles that run on gasoline.
- Change the engine oil as often as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Dirty engine oil becomes very thick and will cause excessive engine and turbocharger wear that leads to increased smoke emissions.
- Maintain the engine’s fuel injection system as recommended by the manufacturer. This may include fuel filter change; regular draining of the water/fuel separator; checking, cleaning and replacing of injectors to prevent plugging; and having the fuel injection pump maintained as needed.
- While driving, avoid prolonged wide-open-throttle accelerations from stops. Use moderate accelerations.
- Avoid slowing the engine while in top gear. Instead, shift to lower gear so your engine doesn’t suffer.
- Ease off the accelerator under load conditions such as when climbing or towing a heavy load. The fuel delivered at near maximum throttle positions under load conditions is simply making smoke, not power.
