The “Material Recovery Facility" or MRF shall include solid waste transfer station or sorting station, drop-off center, a composting facility, and a recycling facility. This technology has been proven effective within the vicinity of Brgy. Ambulong. In fact, an ordinance was passed by the Barangay Council stipulating the need for proper segregation of wastes in every household The signed contract, which took effect on June 1, 2005, formally allows the barangay to collect, recycle, and dispose the domestic wastes from the refinery, the residential compound, and third parties situated alongside the refinery, which include SGEI, Depot and Bitumen Import Facility.

The PSPC-Ambulong Solid Waste Management Contract effectively recognizes the importance of adapting a better technology without the degradation of our natural resources. It clearly illustrates that economic, social and environmental focus can be integrated for a common, risk-free direction. It has also proven that consulting and listening to both internal and external stakeholders are fundamental in putting up a commitment to Sustainable Development.
