 Mirant Philippines will grant substantial funding to PSFI for the acquisition of solar home systems from SSPC for the electrification of barangays, with part of the proceeds of sale of SHS to be used to fund community-based and livelihood development activities for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). ARMM is home to the poorest and most conflict-stricken areas in the Philippines where communities are in most need of electrification to fuel growth and enhance basic services. PSFI shall source or acquire unused 50 or 55-watt peak Photovoltaic SHS for 32 barangays for the Winrock-AMORE electrification projects and shall serve as conduit of funds for the solar electrification programs and for community development and technical enhancement training. A signing ceremony was held on April 11, 2005 at the Shell House Board Room in Makati City to signify the start of the second phase of the AMORE program.
