Shell Reinforces Forecourt Safety Through "Wag Magpasiklab" Campaign

14/02/2005

In an effort to increase awareness on forecourt safety and improve compliance in all Shell service stations, Shell formally launched today its nationwide safety initiative dubbed as ‘Wag magpasiklab’ at C5 Shell station in Taguig City.

'Wag magpasiklab' safety awareness campaign aims to encourage motorists to comply with the forecourt safety measures and observe safe acts while refueling in the forecourt. Unsafe acts normally being committed in the forecourt like smoking in the forecourt, use of mobile phone while refueling, engine is on while refueling, and filling of unapproved plastic containers are considered sources of ignition that can lead to fire and explosion. In addition, straddling the motorbike while refueling is also considered unsafe as it may lead to an accident. These unsafe acts can cause harm to people and damage to property.

"For Shell, safety is an investment. This is a competitive advantage that we are more than willing to share to other industry players. We want to let everyone know the value and importance of safety through the forecourt safety measures in place, in our continuing journey to uplift the safety consciousness of everyone - especially our motorists. Through this campaign, we aim to prevent the risk and possible incidents and ensure safety in all our service stations or areas where we operate," said Edgar O. Chua, Shell companies in the Phils. Country Chairman and President (in photo).
