 The Shell Better Mileage Road Challenge, which kicked off in Manila, is a road trip designed to test the mileage efficiency of cars using Shell Better Mileage gasolines Super Premium, Super Unleaded, and Shell Velocity. The course ran from Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City up to Tagaytay City in Cavite. Fueled by Shell Better Mileage gasolines, a total of 39 motorists joined the fun and pit stop challenges, divided into three categories namely 1) 1600 engine displacement and above category, 2) 1500 engine displacement and below category, and 3) Media Guests category. Marlon Angeles and Fe Ilano emerged as the first-placer in the 1600 cc category registering a mileage efficiency of 16.05 kilometers per liter. Daniel Lanugan & Elvira Lorenzo registered a 14.79 kilometers per liter, while Evelyn & Sonia Antonio recorded a 14.34 kilometers per liter bagging the second and third place respectively. In the 1500 cc and below category, Oscar and Heidi Nuke bested other contenders with an impressive 53.01 kilometers per liter in their Honda Jazz. Miguel Bauza & Cris Cepeda secured second place with a recorded mileage of 22.81 kilometers per liter while Euven Balcueva & Bernie Marco won third place with 17.20 kilometers per liter in their Nissan Sentra. Winners for the media guest category were Inigo Roces & Chris Van Houen of C! Magazine with a mileage of 35.522 kilometers per liter (1st place), Tony Bueno & Eric Peralta of 89.9 DWTM - FM with 33.004 kms./liter (2nd place), and Jess Garcia (DZRH) & Sarah Cabrera with a 26.829 kilometers per liter. First place category winners took home P20,000 worth of Shell fuel cards, second place winners received P15,000 worth of Shell fuel cards while third place category winners won P10,000 worth of Shell fuel cards. Aside from the fuels cards, each winner took home loads of fabulous Shell items such as Helix motor oil, Black Magic Appearance Products, Rain-X Windshield anti-rain, Auto Expression-Medo products, and UltraNorsk-Medo leaf scent from Shell Car Care International. The event was in co-operation with 10 major FM stations in Metro Manila.
