Inspiring Filipinos to work hard and go further is the theme of Pilipinas Shell's Better Mileage Gasolines latest ad campaign featuring Gawad Kalinga worker Tony Meloto. “Pag may layunin, malayo ang mararating!” highlights a vision shared by Meloto, one of the country's respected socio-civic leader, and Shell as they inspire Filipinos to live their dream. Shell, with its continuing effort to provide high quality products and Meloto, for his unwavering commitment to uplifiting the quality of life for the poor. Meloto, founder of the successful community development project, Gawad Kalinga , was chosen as "icon" of the newly-launched Shell campaign because he exemplifies the ideals of Shell as a company. His tireless effort in addressing the needs of the poor by spearheading activities aimed at building communities, values and spiritual formation, livelihood, among others may be likened to Shell's persistent effort in developing quality fuels using its Global technology to be able to deliver to the customers the fuel product that would take them further. Meloto is no stranger to the struggles of the poor. He worked hard to earn a scholarship at Ateneo University to eventually enjoy great career opportunities. Ten years ago, he opted to leave his job in Melbourne, Australia to move back home and establish Gawad Kalinga. He felt his sense of accomplishment and fulfillment would only come once he has shared his successes with those people who were left behind. Today, Meloto has built communities in Bagong Silang, Payatas, Magsunga in Bacolod City and Basak in Davao, to name a few. He believes every Filipino deserves a chance to advance in life and go the distance by setting goals and being driven to achieve it. Like Meloto, Shell believes that Filipinos may be fuelled to strive hard towards the accomplishment of a life's dream. After all, “Ang layunin ng Shell, Malayo ang marating nyo!” |
