Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC) welcomes the decision of Mayor Lim, as it notes that this is in line with the Supreme Court’s March 2007 resolution, which stated that Manila Ordinance 8027 could be repealed by a subsequent ordinance allowing the depot to stay. “This is a positive development, which allows us to continue to ensure safe, reliable and uninterrupted delivery of petroleum products to our customers and contribute to the well-being of our neighbours in Pandacan,” said PSPC Chairman and President Edgar Chua. PSPC has always maintained that its Pandacan depot and its operations are safe and secure; compliant with both local and international standards and that the public concerns on safety and security have been and are continuously being addressed. "Our actions in the past and up to now have demonstrated the integrity of our operations, especially on Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and managing our impacts on communities. This is the best proof that we are a responsible corporation committed to sustainable development, and has gained the support of many of our partners who spoke for us - the business groups, foreign chambers, the NGO community and the Pandacan residents themselves. It is now a challenge for us to show that we are worthy of this trust and ensure that we continue operating responsibly, " Chua added.
